Ceftriaxone Rocephin® Pregnancy: B; Lactation: Unk
Powder for IM or IV injection: 250 mg, 500 mg, 1,000 mg |
Children: 25-75 mg/kg/day IM or IV in one or two divided doses (max 2000 mg/day) Adult: Usual dose 250 mg-2 g IM or IV once daily. Maximum dose 2 g Q12H. Important side effects: Rash, diarrhea, elevated LFTs.
Reduce dose in patients with combined liver disease and significant renal disease.
Caution: Avoid use in patients with history of severe penicillin allergy. Use with caution in patients with history of seizures. Use with caution in patients with history of biliary disease. |
