Ciprofloxacin Cipro® Pregnancy: C; Lactation: Unsafe
Tabs: 250 mg 500 mg 750 mg
Oral Suspension: 250 mg/5 mL 500 mg/5 mL |
≥18 years to Adult: 250-750 mg PO two times daily.
Food: Take on empty stomach 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Take 2 hours before or 6 hours after sucralfate, antacids, aluminum, magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron, sucralfate, vitamins, or mineral supplements.
Important side effects: Photosensitivity, dizziness, headache, insomnia, rash (may be severe), seizures, superinfection, angina, atrial flutter, bronchospasm.
Drug Interactions: May be significant with ciprofloxacin, especially caffeine, phenytoin, cyclosporine, warfarin, theophylline.
Reduce dose in renal disease: CrCl 30-50 mL/min 250-500 mg PO Q12H CrCl 5-29 mL/min 250-500 mg PO Q18H |
