SKIN - Bite Wound - Human Bite (Viridans streptococci, Streptococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium, Eikenella, anaerobes) Outpatient management with oral antimicrobial therapy may be appropriate for early, minor, wounds. Many patients, especially those with bite to the hand, face, or groin may require hospitalization and surgical (orthopaedic) consultation.

Must administer clindamycin with a fluoroquinolone (adults) or trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (children). |

Important side effects: Photosensitivity, dizziness.
Reduce dose in renal disease (CrCl <50 mL/min).
