Children > 3 yo and Adults:

Insert cotton wick, apply 3-5 gtts q 6 hours for 24 hours then remove and continue with gtts 3-4 daily in external canal.

Cortisporin Otic ®

(Hydrocortisone 1% +polymyxin + neomycin )

Pregnancy: C; Lactation: Unsafe

 

Solution and suspension 1%

 

 

Children and adults:

3-4 gtts, 3-4 x daily 5-10 days

Use suspension for perforated TM.

 

 Important side effects:  Neomycin can be sensitive in some patients. 

 

Ofloxacin 0.3% Otic ®

(Floxin Otic ®)®)

Pregnancy: C; Lactation: Unsafe

 

Solution: 0.3% 5, 10 mL

 

 

Children 1-12 yo: 5 gtts in ear BID x 5-10 days

Children > 12 and Adults: 10 gtts BID x 5-10 days

Safe for ruptured TM.

Important side effects: may cause irritation if allergic to quinolones.
