GENITOURINARY - UTI - Fungal General statement: Rule out systemic fungal infection. Consider removing urinary catheter, discontinuing any antibiotics, reducing steroid therapy, and controlling hyperglycemia.

 

 

Fluconazole*

(Diflucan®)

 

Adult: 100 mg PO daily for 7-10 days.

 

Food: May be taken without regard to food.

 

Pregnancy: C; Lactation: Unsafe

 

Tabs: 50 mg, 100 mg, 150 mg, 200 mg  

 

Important side effects: Advise patient to report any signs of liver failure: anorexia, nausea, vomiting, RUQ discomfort, jaundice, ascites. Potentially significant drug interactions; consult a pharmacist.
